The Magnificent Breast Cancer Journey — those things not anticipated!

So here it is — when leaving hospital after a one week, one day stay — having had 100% successful Breast Cancer Surgery the task of fetching a necessary ointment lead to a nearly one hour journey. Off my friend Bridget and I went, as usual depending on GPS — she drove, I was busy seat dancing to hip music.

The insurance pre approval had not yet gone through but alas it was a necessary expense and I was grateful to have the funds (nearly $150) for this purchase plus it was leading me to add another part of what is now a project I have already begun working on — which is to make sure all women of all ages have access to everything no matter income that involves their Breast Health — more on that soon.

Friend Bridget and I always, as I do with all friends and family try to add something fun to any task or errand. After this pharmacy pickup it was to have dinner. Not knowing the area we asked the pharmacist assistant, she enthusiastically recommended a close by Italian Restaurant. Off we went, found a place passed down from grandparents to current owner, a lovely woman.

Guess what? Okay I will tell you. Actually three things to tell you. First at the table next to ours a family was celebrating a birthday and when they heard me mention my Breast Cancer Surgeon told us it was the Mom, the Grandmother at their table Doctor. Second thing that happened and this one is very special. The young server helping us is named Mickaela, my beloved husband who died in 2019 was C. Michael. Our server, a wonderful young woman who is now my FB friend is starting Law School this Fall AND here is the amazing third thing that happened – when the owner heard about my being at her restaurant to celebrate my successful Breast Cancer surgery she sent over a gift card – yes I thanked her and yes I cried tears of communion, communion with another woman, with all people!

Change the Narrative, Change the World!

From ancient times to these modern days and maybe even more important than ever, words that create the narrative matter.

How we think, how we feel, how we describe every aspect of our lives contributes to our own narrative and likewise the narrative of our world.

Be cautious about your choice of the narrative you create — be vigilant in how you proceed in both successes and struggles when choosing words to define and describe all that surrounds you.

We can change our individual worlds and the entire world together — let us set about the narratives that will guide us!

Daily Reminder – R, R, R!

Not at all easy on many days. Not always something we want to do but it must be done for to do otherwise will ruin that day and make more difficult the days that follow. What is this magic thing I refer to? Read on my friends.

As with so many things it is both simple and complex. Alas is not all of being alive both? We human beings are capable of handling these extremes – well most of us are. So here is and remember we really have no other choice.

Each day it is incumbent upon us to RESTORE, RENEW, REJOICE and when we find doing these things difficult we must reach out to those who will help us and we must do the same for others who are struggling!

This is the ONLY Option, 2022!

Simple and complex:

It is quite simply our only choice now for to do otherwise will have each person, the world in jeopardy.

Indeed one must be attentive to self and to those close to them – family, friends, colleagues and neighbors … And then, with effort and focus be concerned and actively caring about the greater we — we the people, we the beings who inhabit this world.

Truth is no person is an island and modernity has happily increased our ability to connect with anyone and everyone however with that comes a responsibility to be vigilant and active about supporting and protecting each other in our joined communities!

Want to be REALLY Chic?

So here is the situation – being kind and caring does NOT mean you are weak. It never means you will not fight back against miscreant types but it does mean you will be the person most likely to be remembered for helping other people feel good about their lives.

Chic is a good thing. Chic is style in all the ways you look, speak, act and communicate with people and all living things – in fact being chic is a feeling and an every day, every night experience!

Take a Deep Breath and Smile

Yes it works — every morning when you wake up, stretch your body, take a deep breath and smile. Then do your thing — water, coffee, tidy up and definitely make your bed. And of course eat a healthy breakfast.

Many more things we each must do each and every day but the fact is if we start with a few simple tasks then all else needing our attention becomes easier.

Remember no matter where you are on any day, no matter the circumstances or situations you find yourself in or dealing with that day if you do something basic for you when waking up everything else becomes easier.

I know this is true and I live this way – have for decades and now at 68 continuing because it is even more important!

Liberate Yourself

Simple and complex and necessary. Each of us every day, over and over again must liberate ourselves.

Liberate your mind – take back your time, give yourself permission to address the tasks, oppose those refusing to be fair and then only leave space in your mind for that which really matters to you.

Liberate your soul – take back the time and the effort you might have extended to people and things that do not allow your spirit to feel safe and free.

To be liberated does not mean ignoring issues or situations that are troubling but instead it means dealing with those things in a limited way and never using up all parts of your mind and soul that are meant for being healthy and happy!

Three Things to Remember!

Cliché—perhaps but no matter that because these three things really matter. These three things are a part of every person and are that which when remembered will help guide, comfort and sustain an individual.

The three are: Love, Life, World.

Love in all ways – for others, for ourselves, for nature and for every part of life is the key to being happpy to be alive no matter the circumstances being dealt with that day.

Life is a gift, it is THE MOST IMPORTANT gift. Life is always complex, often challenging but always worth having and always worth appreciating.

World is our home, the entire world our collective home. To recognize this fact is to feel both humble and grand for each of us as a resident of this world is granted the right to all it has to offer and no one should be allowed to deny any person their place in this world. It is up to each of us to protect that right for even our foes – never should one person be able to lessen another person’s place in this world!

These things I write are what I know to be true!

Cults and Bandwagons

So much to say … Alas suffice it to clearly state that good things can and do happen because of social media HOWEVER the cult and bandwagon scenarios can be at best be a waste of time, often include individuals only seeking their own self aggrandizement for nothing more than their rants and at worse can be dangerous!

Of course there are REALLY important issues that might benefit from the attention gathered through what I call “the bandwagon affect”. It is up to each of us to be cautious in what we decide is worthy of our effort, energy and time!
